The University of Agriculture Faisalabad Syndicate has approved the budget of Rs 8.7 billion for the financial year 2018-19. The 311th meeting of Syndicate was presided over by UAF vice chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa. Under Rs 8.7 billion budget, as many as Rs 2.4 billion has been allocated for research whereas under the head of recurring budget of Rs 4.6 billion, Rs 1.45 billion has been allocated for development projects whereas Rs 2.6 billion for salaries. The meeting also approved regularization of 30 teachers from Laboratory High School besides appointing Dr Sohail Sajid, Dr Asif Tanvir, Dr Nazir Javed and Dr Mansoor Hameed, as Chairmen of the Departments including Parasitology; Agronomy; Plant Pathology; and Botany respectively.
The meeting also gave nod to restore salaries of the employees of the Centre of Advanced Studies in Agriculture and Food Security. It also okayed the annual increment of 140 teaching staff working under the Tenure Track System.
Talking to the meeting, the vice chancellor said that the meeting could not be held for the last 15 months due to unavoidable circumstances, delaying the approval of various matters. He said that today meeting resolved the issues of the employment and will boost up their morale. He added that the university was commitment to address the issue the issues of the students and employees and to ensure the quality education and research and to provide state-of-the-art facilities.
Lahore High Court Judge Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Higher Education Commission representative Dr Zahoor Ahmad Swati, Finance Department Section Officer Sarwat Shaheen, Additional Secretary Admin Agriculture Department Ashiq Hussain Aulakh, Livestock and Dairy Development representative Dr Saliaha, UAF Registrar Muhammad Hussain, Treasurer Tariq Saeed, UAF members syndicate Dr Ashfaq Chatha, Dr Ijaz Bhatti, Dr Tahira Iqbal, Dr Nasir Awan, Dr Ahsan Raza, and Dr Misbah Ijaz attended the meeting.
