Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry Wednesday said that the government has written a letter to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), asking it to withdraw its order of suspension regarding transfer of inspector general of police (IGP) Punjab. Speaking to media persons outside the Parliament House, he said that the ECP has stopped transfer of the IGP Punjab illegally; therefore, it should withdraw its orders.
He said that the transfer of the IGP Punjab is a policy matter as the Punjab police chief Tahir Khan has failed to implement directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan about removal of all officers from their positions who were allegedly involved in Model Town massacre. The information minister said that the Prime Minister had assured Pakistan Awami Tehreek President Dr Tahirul Qadri of fair probe into the Model Town incident, as the previous investigation into the incident had been conducted under former Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
He said that the government is committed to ensuring political oversight of the bureaucracy, as public representatives both from opposition and treasury benches have the right to supervise the bureaucracy. Chaudhry said that billions of rupees have been laundered from Pakistan, adding whenever a culprit is arrested for corruption, democracy becomes endangered in the country.
Criticising the opposition parties, he said that all looters want to make a corruption union to protect their looted money. He urged the National Accountability Bureau to recover looted money from the corrupt and expedite the accountability process. Later the minister also shared the details of family members of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Senator Mushahidullah Khan who served in the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), through a tweet.
The document shared by the minister showed names and details of the induction of Mushahidullah's family members in the national flag carrier. As per the document, Mushahidullah himself joined the PIA as a loader in February 1990, and resigned in May 1997 as a passenger service supervisor. His bother Rashidullah Khan joined the airline in June 1978 as a traffic assistant and worked his way up as a deputy general manager of the commercial department in 2007. Rashidullah was then nominated as a country manager in New York and retired from the PIA in August 2016.
Another brother of Mushaidullah, Sajidullah Khan is presently posted as the PIA's station manager in London. He has served five years of his tenure in foreign posting, instead of three years. Sajidullah was also posted in Birmingham as a station manager for three years and was also awarded Chauffeur Drive Business to M/s ARL Services in the UK in an alleged violation of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority rules, resulting in 67,000 pounds ad hoc payment.
His cousin Matiullah and brother-in-law Ahmed Nadeem Pasha are also PIA employees and the latter is currently working without any assignment.
