Anti-measles campaign in Tribal Districts and Sub-divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is starting on Monday (today) under the supervision and security provided by Deputy Commissioners, District Health Officers and security forces. The 12-day anti-measles campaign will focus on reaching total of 0.9 million children between the age of 09 to 59 months in seven tribal districts and six sub-divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for administering anti-measles vaccine.
A total of 1,247 teams including 972 out-reach, 241 fixed and 34 mobile have been assigned the job. The teams consist of 1247 skilled persons, 1,247 assistants, 1944 social mobilizers, 295 first level supervisor and 84 second level supervisors who have been trained to ensure quality campaign in their respective areas.
Director Health Services Tribal Districts Dr Jawad Habib said, "Providing health facilities to every citizen of tribal district is our utmost duty and this campaign is one of the efforts to save our children from life threatening measles disease."
He said that all the necessary arrangements have been made to ensure quality anti-measles campaign but now parents have to fulfill their responsibility by bringing their children to nearby vaccination centres for administering anti-measles injection and making the campaign successful and effective.
He emphasized that the outreach teams should reach all the target population and the community may extent all out support to the vaccinators. Increasing number of measles cases throughout the country as well as in tribal districts and subdivisions during 2017 motivated the government to launch anti-measles campaign all over the country.
During the 12 day anti-measles campaign vaccine will be administered daily from 8 am to 4 pm without any interruption. All the target children will receive one dose of measles vaccine irrespective of his/her previous vaccination status.
