Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) director general Abdul Aleem Memon has said confidence of the consumer is always proportionate to safety and reliability of a product and this confidence can only be achieved through standardisation.
Abdul Aleem Memon was addressing at a seminar titled 'International Standards and the Fourth Industrial Revolution' on the occasion of the 49th World Standards Day here at PSQCA head office. The objective of the seminar was to promote quality standards culture in Pakistan.
He appreciated the efforts of National Standards Committees for their efforts towards quality culture in the country.
Memon acknowledged the fact that industrialisation, standardisation and economic growth grow together as without Standardisation optimum growth cannot be achieved. NSCs are addressing this issue and have developed Pakistan Standards. Moreover, International Standards especially with regards to Pakistan is one single important factor that could direct/channelize the entire outlook of business, he said.
He further said the changing face of international trade has led to single, globally acceptable technical standards for globally marketable products. At the international level, standards are becoming a pillar of the new global trade system.
He urged Pakistani companies to remain vigilant about the latest development of international standards and get involved in standards committees of PSQCA. I am very much hopeful that Standardization with the collaborative efforts of the public and private sectors has maintained dedication by bringing positive changes to this activity every year.
The seminar session was attended by Naveed Ansari Chairmen of NSC-Electronics; Gulzar Memon of NSC-Agriculture & Food, Jamal Naqvi of NSC-Mechanical and Khalid Ahmad Bablani, Director Standards Development Centre (SDC) also spoke on the importance of World Standards Day.
