The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated investigation of Nandipur Project for its completion cost escalating to Rs 58 billion from Rs 22 billion, said sources. They said NAB has also summoned employees of Chinese firms involved in the construction of the project.
One Chinese officer from a Chinese company appeared before the NAB investigation team and replied to their queries, said sources. Meanwhile, NAB was also investigating an alleged connection between former Principle Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad and Pakistan's ambassador to US Ali Jehangir Siddiqui. It may be noted that NAB has already summoned Siddiqui to join enquiry, which he has failed to attend to. Sources said family members of Fawad and Siddiqui are business partners.
