The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab announced on Tuesday to launch a movement for the rights of growers from 5th December in the province.
The movement would kick start from district Chiniot which is also the home constituency of PPP Punjab Secretary Information and parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly Syed Hassan Murtaza.
In a statement, he said, PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira would lead a protest against sugar mill owners for delaying crushing season in the province. It will be held in district Chiniot, he added.
He said the PPP has decided to raise voice against the exploitation of sugarcane growers in the province. The PPP would not remain silent over the issue, he stressed. He pointed out that cultivators are also being evacuated from Chiniot where they have been cultivating land over the last 100 years.
