Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Monday that the PPP is not against the state institutions. He said PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari was facing a fierce media trial notwithstanding he has done nothing wrong. He also alleged that the party was being punished for its support for the 18th Amendment.
Referring to Brexit, Kaira said British intelligence agencies are not intervening in the process even though it is a complicated affair. He said the court should also look into its own affairs while holding the executive accountable. "This does not mean that the party is against state institutions," he added.
He was addressing at a press conference at the Punjab Secretariat of the party. He challenged the ongoing accountability process in the country and maintained that there is a complete lack of transparency in the accountability process. He lamented that no action has been taken against the government functionaries and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is all focused on the opposition parties.
He questioned that why no action has been taken against the Speaker of Punjab Assembly which is already facing NAB inquiries. Kaira maintained that the opposition is protesting due to the lack of transparency in the accountability process.
