The Karachi Port handled 164,690 tonnes of cargo comprising 133,123 tonnes of import cargo and 31,567 tonnes of export cargo including 10,551 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 133,123 tonnes comprised of 71,311 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,663 tonnes of bulk cargo; 600 tonnes of canola; 7,553 tonnes of urea and 41,996 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 31,567 tonnes comprised of 21,441 tonnes of containerised cargo; 332 tonnes of bulk cargo, 5,500 tonnes of clikers; 3,494 tonnes of rice and 800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 10,551 containers comprising of 5,405 containers import and 5,146 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,394 of 20's and 1,930 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 74 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 531 of 20's and 174 40's loaded containers while 775 20's and 1,146 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were two ships namely Kota Kaya and YM Miranda carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. YM Bamboo, SM New York, Maliakos, Chemroute Sun, MW Neon, Chrisopigi and Grace carrying containers, oil tankers and clinker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 206,679 tonnes comprising 162,285 tonnes of import cargo and 44,394 tonnes of export cargo including 2,895 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 162,285 tonnes includes 60,900 tonnes of LNG; 1,300 tonnes of diesel oil; 12,270 tonnes of palm oil; 37,000 tonnes of coal; 26,254 tonnes of gasoil; 4,948 tonnes of steel coil; 2,000 tonnes of EDC and 17,613 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 44,394 tonnes includes 7,002 tonnes of rice and 37,392 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A total number of 2,895 containers comprising 927 containers import and 1,968 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were five ships namely CV MSC Tomoko, CV Maersk Atlanta, MV Atlatoc Unity, MV Vita Ocean and MV Bhairavi carrying containers, steel coil, soyabean and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, steel coil, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, gasoil, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as nine ships namely MV Sakizaya Diamond, MV Puppis Ocean, MV African Ibis, MV FLC wealth, MV Genco Aqultaine, MT Kiso, MT Horizon, MT Maritime Tuntiga and MT UACC Messila carrying soyabean seeds, steel coil, cement, coal and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven vessels viz. CV Conti Darwin, CV Hugo Schulte, CV GSL Tianjin, MV Puppis Ocean, MV African Ibis and MV Genco Aquitaine carrying containers, steel coil, coal and soyabean seeds respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Grains & Fertilizer Terminal (FAP) respectively on Thursday. There were no ships due to arrive on Thursday.
