Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi on Saturday shared alleged property tax statements of a flat in New York what his party claims is owned but undeclared by former president and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. "Just for clarity's sake... attached are the latest property tax bills of 524 East 72, street, Apartment 37F, NY, NY 10021...bills are all in the name of Asif Ali Zardari", Zaidi claimed through a tweet.
However, the veracity of the documents [property tax bills quarterly statement], allegedly issued by NYC Department of Finance to an individual namely Asif A Zardari, could not be verified through independent sources.
PTI leader and member Sindh Assembly Khurram Sher Zaman, on the directives of the party, on December 20, had filed a reference in Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Sindh office for disqualification of Zardari under article 62 and 63 of the Constitution, allegedly for owning but not declaring the flat in New York. Business Recorder made several attempts to PPP Secretary General Farhatullah Babar over the phone to get the party's version, but he was not available for comments till filing of this report.
