Prices of essential kitchen items have witnessed a mixed trend during this week as compared to preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that during the week under review, eggs, chicken, and fruit prices witnessed a reduction, most of the vegetables as well as wheat flour, sugar, pulses, rice, spices, ghee/cooking oil and milk prices remained stable.
Potatoes prices went down from Rs120 per 5 kg to Rs90 per 5 kg which in retail are being sold at Rs25 per kg against Rs30 per kg, onions price remained stable at Rs120 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs30, tomatoes price went down from Rs120 per 5 kg to Rs100 per 5 kg which in retail is being sold at Rs25-30 per kg against Rs30-35 per kg.
Garlic prices remained stable in thee range of Rs300-400 per 5 kg, which in retail market were being sold at Rs70-95 per kg, ginger price went down from Rs700 per 5 kg to Rs600 per 5 kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs150 per kg against Rs180 per kg.
Wheat flour price remained stable at Rs785 per bag, egg price went down from Rs112 per dozen to Rs100 per dozen in wholesales which in retail are being sold at Rs110 per dozen against Rs120 per dozen, live chicken price went down from Rs5,600 per 40 kg to Rs5,400 per 40 kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs170 per kg against Rs190 per kg and chicken meat is being sold at Rs280 per kg against Rs300 per kg.
Prices of all the major pulses, sugar, milk, spices, tea, salt and ghee/cooking oil prices remained stable, while various qualities of fish are available in the range of Rs300 per kg to Rs600 per kg. Capsicum price remained unchanged at Rs300 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs75 per kg; Yam (arvi) price was stable at Rs200 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs50 per kg; carrot price stable at Rs120 per 5 kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs30 per kg.
Bean price was stable at Rs140 per 5 kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs40 per kg, okra price stable at Rs300 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs75 per kg and ridge gourd (tori) price remained stable at Rs300 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs80 per kg. Prices of most of the vegetables including tinda, cauliflower, cabbage, peas, Karela and others also dipped during the week under review.
Fruit prices witnessed an upward trend as white apple is available at Rs80 per kg against70 per kg, ambri apple at Rs80 per kg against Rs70 per kg, Pakistani Kala kilo apple at Rs130 per kg against Rs120 per kg, gaja apple at Rs90 per kg against Rs80 per kg and Iranian Kala kilo apple at Rs150 per kg.
Local good quality banana at Rs80 per dozen against Rs70 per dozen, normal quality banana in the range of Rs50-60 per dozen against Rs45-55 per dozen, guava price went up from Rs70 per kg to Rs80 per kg and normal quality was available in the range of Rs50-55 per kg.
Various qualities of grapes are being sold in the range of Rs100-225 per kg. Various qualities of oranges in the range of Rs90-150 per dozen, while pomegranate are being sold in the range of Rs140 per kg to Rs250 per kg.
