Tripping of feeders continued for third consecutive day which affected the power supply system heavily, leaving the urban and rural areas with 8 to 12 hours load shedding. The city life was exposed to load shedding after every alternate hour. People also faced troubles in reaching their office in time due to non-availability of electricity and water.
It may be noted that the industrial activities are also at a standstill due to power supply cuts for long hours.
The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) sources claimed that power shortage has reached 800MW while the demand was recorded at 2350MW on Friday. The LESCO control room officials were found handling an emergency situation of managing load as the citizens are not happy with the situation and cursing the distribution company.
It may be noted that power supply from Guddu and Ballooki power plants was suspended due to tripping of transmission lines and quota for the LESCO has been reduced by 1000 megawatt due to short supply from the national grid. It led to excessive load shedding.
According to LESCO officials, no improvement in the supply is likely to take place until there is rain in the city.
