President Dr Arif Alvi seconded the Sindh Governor Imran Ismail's stance that the provincial government was not cooperating but he said he would drum up Sindh's cooperation with the Centre. "Without Sindh government's cooperation, development projects and other work in Karachi cannot be materialized," he said, speaking to the media, here on Sunday.
President Alvi emphasised that the Federal and Sindh governments have to act jointly for the accomplishment of the proposed Karachi package that prioritises infrastructure development and also focus water, sanitation and environment.
Accompanied by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, President Alvi visited a heavy-bike rally held from Sharea Faisal to the Governor House. He said such healthy activities should be held after regular intervals.
He also assured of his efforts to initiate the work on development packages for Sindh especially Karachi. "For those packages to work, the Sindh government has to work with the federal government because work cannot be done in Karachi without the provincial government's cooperation," he reiterated.
Two days earlier, Governor Imran Ismail said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had approved funds amounting to Rs50 billion for Karachi's development which would be utilised to resolve the city's lingering issues. He said federal government intended to begin work to improve infrastructure and lift garbage that has marred the beauty of the city. "Work will also start soon to lift the debris of razed encroachments," he said.
He further said work on the Green Line Bus Service by the federal government has been completed and it would be functional within 4 to 6 months. He had invited President Arif Alvi to visit the rally held to promote extracurricular activities in the city.
