The Karachi Port handled 84,613 tonnes of cargo comprising 34,029 tonnes of import cargo and 50,584 tonnes of export cargo including 1,781 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 34,029 tonnes comprised of 13,051 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,675 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 6,655 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo; 228 tonnes of bulk cargo and 6,420 tonnes of canola.
The total export cargos of 50,584 tonnes comprised of 17,817 tonnes of containerised cargo; 76 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,970 tonnes of clinkers; 6,721 tonnes of rice and 19,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 1,781 containers comprising of 932 containers import and 849 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 234 of 20's and 294 of 40's loaded while 000 of 20's and 55 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 287 of 20's and 463 40's loaded containers while 32 20's and 96 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Golden Brilliant, Northern Dexterity, Han Yi, Al Safa, Bobcat, and Sea Elegant carrying containers tanker and bulk cargo sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Sea Elegant, Han Yi, MS Tiger, Ocean Paradise, Bow Cedar Marianne Danica and Oriental Sakura carrying containers and oil tanker currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 166,706 tonnes includes 4,826 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,733 tonnes of palm oil; 45,750 tonnes of coal; 2,377 tonnes of LNG and 6,o37 tonnes of Soyabean seeds.
The total export cargo of 42,560 tonnes includes 42,560 tonnes of containerised cargo. A total number of 2,310 containers comprising 1,160 containers import and 1,150 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were three ships namely As Pola, Cosco Japan and NCC Amal sailed out to sea on Monday morning and another ship namely SSC Triumph, is expected to sail in the same day in the afternoon.
A total number of four vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, Bitumen, canola seeds, LNG and diesel oil allotted berth during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen ships namely MSC Sana, Clayton-II, Shovener, Solic Victory Port Cantor, Star Canson, Lita, Ncvias Mercury, GNG Concord, Vita Ocean, SITC Zhong Shan, GNG Concord, John McCanas, GS Faulus, Mega-I, and WherPuri carrying containers, Bitumen, coal, soya bear, soyabean seeds, canola seeds, palm oil and LPG were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. MSC Sano, MSC Kwangyang, Shoveler Sofie Victory and Mega-I carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at QICT, mw-2, PIBT and LCT respectively on Monday 7th January 2019.
