Serving over 400 notices to alleged occupants to vacate its land and properties, Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KW&SB) on Wednesday announced to initiate an anti-encroachment operation in the metropolis. The drive has been designed in compliance with the Supreme Court, and the Sindh Water Commission's clear directions, said a KW&SB spokesman.
Over 400 persons have been served with notices to remove encroachments that they have constructed on the board's land, sewerage lines, around its water installations, reservoirs, siphons etc. with immediate effect. The anti-encroachment drive would kick off right after the deadline ends.
The board's Managing Director Asadullah Khan has asked all the departmental heads to follow the court orders with letter and spirit, and contribute their role to vacate the encroached land with fulfilling all legal formalities.
The director enforcement, chief security officers, besides executive engineers have been directed to get ready along with heavy machinery to initiate the drive that will be aided by police, district administration, and the paramilitary rangers.
KW&SB has announced the anti-encroachment drive at a time when Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has razed to ground over 4000 shops and structures in the light of top court orders, during a couple of months.
