Civil Surgeon Civil Hospital Mithi, District Tharparkar in a statement said that the deaths of three children under five occurred due to natural diseases but not due to malnutrition as reported in different sections of press and media.
According to the statement, the Civil Surgeon has described that the newly born baby girl, daughter of Harchand Bheel, resident of Bheemon Bheel Union Council Mithrio Bhatti Taluk Mithi, delivered at Basic Health Malanhore Veena, was prematurely born before time gestational age of 29 weeks. She was referred and admitted to the Civil Hospital Mithi on January 12, 2019 and at 4:22 vide indoor no. 174-P, due to multiple diseases i.e. preterm, low birth weight (1.3Kg), respiratory distress syndrome. However, the necessary treatment according to the prescribed protocol was given to the ailing baby which included oxygen inhalation, CPAP, I/V fluid, keep NPO, passed NG tube, injection Cefotaxiume, injection vitamin K and other necessary medicines as soon as she was admitted in the hospital and in spite of the efforts made on the part of health department, the baby could not survive and breathed her last on January 14, 2019 at 8:10 am, due to mainly respiratory disease syndrome. Likewise, 11-month-old baby Naziran, daughter of Faiz Muhammad Vikio, resident of village Vijuto UC Mohrano Taluka Mithi was brought at the Civil Hospital Mithi and admitted on January 14, 2019 at 10:00 am vide indoor : 193-P with having fever and fits for last few days and she was treated accordingly had been given all the necessary medicine but she could not survive due to meningitis and encephalitis and died on same day at 11:15 pm.
The Civil Surgeon Mithi further revealed that bay boy son of Meva Ram from Mithi was born on January 14, 2019 by NVD at Civil Hospital Mithi, the baby was shifted to the nursery ward of the hospital as she did not cry as she was born and was given required treatment and required protocol therapy but baby bleed from mouth, nose and his platelet count was very low (37000). As reported that the baby was born with congenital abnormalities and died on January 15, 2019 at 5:00 pm due to birth asphyxia with bleed disorder.-PR
