Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for information, law and Anti Corruption, Barrister Murtaza Wahab here on Wednesday urged federal government to release province's outstanding dues worth Rs 90 billion.
Briefing the media about the details of the meeting on law and order chaired by Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, he said meeting was particularly focused on Karachi.
To a query, he said the repeated claims of Rs 50 billion Karachi Development Package must not be used as a tool to create division among the people of Sindh. "Dues of the province with regard to the services it provides and resources it shares must be duly cleared without any unnecessary delay," he reiterated. The adviser to the Sindh CM emphasized that constitutional rights of the province must be respected.
The meeting was attended by IGP-Sindh, Syed Kalim Imam, Karachi Commissioner and other senior officials of departments concerned who discussed law and order situation in the provincial capital. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on the occasion was said to had advised Sindh police chief to refrain from issuing policy statements with out taking the government into confidence.
This was registered to cause confusion among the citizens and also sent wrong message with regard to implementation of law. According to Wahab, the chief minister particularly directed the police chief to develop foolproof security plan for series of international events scheduled for current year, in the metropolis.
The events were said to include naval exercise, trade fairs, PSL league matches etc. Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that room for improvement always exists, yet peace in Karachi as well as in other cities of Sindh during 2018 has restored the confidence of international community which must not be overlooked. Issues related to water scarcity and gas shortage causing severe inconvenience to the citizens was also raised.
