Mohammad Adnan Jalil, a scion of the well-known political and business family has opposed any kind of alteration in the 18th Constitutional Amendment. Talking to this scribe, he said through the passage of the landmark amendment, the parliament has restored the Constitution of 1973 in its true letter and spirit. Under the same legislation, he said the centre had recognized the right of the federating units on their resources.
Mohammad Adnan Jalil, a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from United Kingdom is the son of late Senator Haji Mohammad Adeel, a senior ANP leader, who remained Finance Minister, Deputy Speaker of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and member National Finance Commission (NFC). He said that the three percent share in NFC allocated for the erstwhile FATA before merger should be immediately included in the share of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as it is now part and parcel of the province.
Adnan Jalil, a former vice president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) said that as all the four provinces and federal government have already nominated their representatives for NFC, therefore, the meeting of the constitutional body should be convened as soon as possible to announce new NFC Award for the country. Regarding the creation of Southern Punjab, as province, he said that ANP in its constitutional considers the part as separate province while the electoral manifesto of the ruling PTI also pledged granting it the status of province. So it should be declared separate province with immediate effect to address the sense of deprivation of the people of that region.
He said that presently, the national economic conditions are being deteriorated and asked the federal government to take steps for economic stability of the country. He said that the depreciation of rupees by the PTI government has not ushered good results for the national exports rather imports are further increased. Similarly, he said it has not bear any positive impact on debt servicing, cost of living and raw material utilized for the export-oriented goods.
Therefore, he asked the government to reverse the decision of the depreciation of rupees to bring dollar-rupee disparity at Rs 100/- per dollar. He has also called for tax reforms to simplify taxation system and introduction of one-window operation to increase national revenue.
