The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Swiss hotels and resorts' chain Henri (Hans) W R Kennedie Friday said that his company is constructing luxury hotels in different cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He was talking to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan during his meeting with him at Chief Minister's Secretariat on Friday.
He said in the first phase, hotels would be established at Peshawar and Swat while Mardan, Chitral and Malakand were included in the second phase of the plan, adding they wanted to invest in the development of touristic spots. Speaking on the occasion, the KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said that the promotion of tourism as industry in the province was his ultimate target. The government, he said, was working to ensure easy access for local and foreign tourists to attractive and beautiful tourists' sites.
He told the delegation that 20 new sites in Chitral, Malakand and Hazara had already been identified under the hundred-day agenda of provincial government and soon both the national and international investment would be invited to invest there. The chief minister said that reconstruction and rehabilitation of access roads to these sites was also in progress, besides this ski resorts at different tourist spots had already been discussed with Pakistan Air Force.
Mahmood Khan said that pragmatic measures were being taken under a comprehensive policy for promotion of tourism in the province. The Chief Minister on the request of investors directed the authorities concerned to facilitate them in acquisition of land for establishing hotels at Peshawar and Swat.
He also directed for a meeting with investors regarding development of different tourist sites in the Province. He made it clear that the provincial government was fully focusing on the development of infrastructure, access roads and other facilities in the new and existing tourist sites of the province.
The five-member delegation of investors led by MPA Nazir Abbasi, while Provincial Minister for Information Shaukat Ali Yousufzai, Principal Secretary to CM Mohammad Israr, Secretary Finance Shakil Qadir, Secretary Tourism and other concerned quarters were also present on this occasion.
