The 5th Pakistan mega leather show has attracted potential buyers and investors from China, India, Italy, Germany, Hong Kong, Cyprus, the USA, the UAE, Spain and Tunisia, organisers said, here on Wednesday. The PMLS-19 held from 27th to 29th of January, 2019 at Lahore International Expo Centre displayed more than 150 stalls to attract about 15,000 visitors, providing them access to vital information and networking opportunities with the national and international customers.
The forum provided a viable platform for nurturing stronger ties or collaborations between the allied industries of the Leather sector of Pakistan. It also featured a special exhibition of the high-quality products being produced by the leather manufacturing industry of Pakistan The Pakistan mega leather show is a series of vibrant, annual events promoting a wide range of leather products; including footwear, garments, gloves, etc. It is jointly orchestrated by four highly resourceful industrial associations including; footwear, leather goods, tanneries, gloves and leather garments.
The PMLS 2019 was the biggest exhibition of leather-based products in the country's history. The foreign exhibitors also include many Chinese organisations, who have shown keen interest in the growing leather industry of Pakistan participated in PMLS.
The event also comprised B2B meetings that were held on all three days. This marvellous event was also attended by many international footwear journalists, footwear designers, and buyers of footwear and leather-goods and Pakistani consumers.
Abdul Razzaq Dawood, Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce, Textile, Industry and Production, and Investment inaugurated the 2nd largest event of Southeast Asia PMLS-19 on 28th January. Ambassador for Italy Dr Stefano Pontecorvo, especially participated in this grand event and interacted with entrepreneurs, businessmen and buyers from Pakistan and abroad.
Chairman of Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association (PFMA) Hassan Javed and Chairman Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA)Agha Saddain, during the Inauguration ceremony, commented on the great potential of Pakistan's leather industry and stated that; "Pakistan Mega Leather Show 2019 is a great success. We have received overwhelming response from entrepreneurs, investors and all other stakeholders of this industry.
PMLS-2019 is the second largest footwear and leather exhibition of Southeast Asia. Production and tanning of leather along with manufacturing of leather-goods is the second biggest export-oriented industry in the manufacturing sector of Pakistan.
The rapid growth of this industry has attracted many international buyers to invest into training facilities for this labor-intensive industry. These investments will improve the technical skills and productivity of the laborers involved in manufacturing leather goods".
Given the sheer scale of this show and its benefits for these businesses, maximum participation from the Government sector was also witnessed. The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industries and other regulatory institutions have provided unprecedented support for this event too.
