The issue of proposed inclusion of Railways minister Sheikh Rashid in the Public Accounts Committee has evoked a considerable controversy. The minister has been criticizing the Speaker of National Assembly in this regard, arguing that the latter would have little or no role insofar as the issue of his participation in APC, which is chaired by PML-N chief Shahbaz Sharif, as a member is concerned. Although Sheikh Rashid's Awami Muslim League is a partner in the ruling coalition, he has been constantly attacking everyone in the PTI except its chairman prime minister Imran Khan. The Speaker National Assembly has made it clear that he would follow the laid down rules and that he would take no dictation from anyone. In other words, he's implying that not even PM can force him to allow 'violation' of rules in the case of Sheikh Rashid. The situation therefore poses a serious challenge to the prime minister in a house where his party enjoys only a razor-thin majority. I wish both Railways minister and Speaker NA success.
