Mixed trend in prices of essential food commodities, including vegetable, pulses, chicken meat, sugar, flour and other have witnessed in retail market, said in a survey carried out by Business Recorder here on Sunday.
The survey noticed the price of chicken meat has slighted decreased in local market as available at Rs 146 per kilogram against the price of Rs 155 per kilogram some days ago. Similarly, farm eggs are being sold at Rs 110 per dozen which was selling at Rs 120 per kilogram in local market.
Butchers are openly defying the official price of cow meat in local market. The survey said that cow meat is being sold Rs400 and Rs450 per kilogram against the official rate of Rs 250 per kilogram in local market. Mutton beef is available at Rs800 per kilogram.
An upward trend in prices of vegetable was noticed in retail market. Tomatoes are being sold at Rs 100 per kilogram in local market while pushcart vendors are selling at Rs60-70 per kilogram. Onion priced at Rs30-40 in local market, while pushcart vendors selling at Rs 20 per kilogram.
Ginger is being sold at Rs 240 per kilogram, while Chinese garlic available at Rs 100 per kilogram and locally produced garlic priced at Rs60 per kilogram in retail market.
Similarly, potatoes are being sold at Rs30 per kilogram while pushcart vendors selling at Rs 20 per kilogram. Cucumber is being available at Rs50 per kilogram whereas lemon priced at Rs80 per kilogram. Green chili is priced at Rs70-80 per kilogram.
Likewise, price of arvi has increased at Rs70 per kilogram which was selling at Rs40 per kilogram in the previous week. Also, the rate of peas had gone up at Rs70 per kilogram against the price of Rs50 per kilogram in retail market.
Capsicum is being sold at Rs 100-120 per kilogram in local market. Turnip is available at Rs 20 per kilogram, cauliflower at Rs30 per kilogram, cabbage at Rs40 per kilogram. Carrots are being sold at Rs50-60 per kilogram in local market, which pushcart vendors are selling at Rs30-40 per kilogram. A bundle of raddish is being sold at Rs 20 in local market. Apple, round and other gourd are being sold within range of Rs50, Rs 60 and Rs80 per kilogram in the local market. Bringle is being sold at Rs 20-30 per kilogram.
According to the survey, a mixed trend in prices of pulses was also noticed in retail market. Good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs 150 per kilogram in retail market, which was available at Rs 130 per kilogram in wholesale market. Toota rice is being sold at Rs70 per kilogram, which was available at Rs60 per kilogram in wholesale market.
It added the price of dal channa has gone up at Rs 140 per kilogram which was selling at Rs 130 per kilogram in the previous week, while the commodity is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram in wholesale market.
Likewise, the rate of big size white channa has increased at Rs 150 per kilogram, while it was being sold at Rs 130-140 per kilogram in wholesale market.
The survey further noticed that price of dal mash has increased at Rs 140 per kilogram in local market against price of Rs 130 per kilogram in wholesale market. Dal masoor at Rs90 per kilogram., white lobiya is being sold at Rs 110 per kilogram in retail market.
The locally produced red bean is being sold at Rs 180 per kilogram, while Tajikistan red bean priced at Rs 130 per kilogram in retail market, the survey noticed. It added that the moonge is being sold at Rs 110 per kilogram.
Dal chilka (green) is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram, while dal chilka (black) available at Rs 130 per kilogram. Dhoti dal is being sold at Rs 110 per kilogram in the local market. Gram flour (baisen) is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram.
The survey noticed that price of sugar has decreased at Rs58 per kilogram, while some shopkeepers are still selling sugar at Rs60 per kilogram in retail market.
According the survey, the prices of cooking/ghee of all brands and qualities were remained high-side in retail market, as available within range of Rs 160, Rs 180 and Rs 200 per kg/litre.
The survey further added that Fruits as a staple food, which are available at high rates in provincial capital Peshawar. Apples are being sold at Rs 120 and Rs 150 per kilogram. Pomegranate is being sold at Rs 100 per kilogram, orange at Rs80 per dozen, kinnow at Rs60 per kilogram. Guava is being sold at Rs 100 per kilogram in local market.
