President Pasban Democratic Party (PDP), Altaf Shakoor has said the megacity Karachi is still getting step-motherly treatment and both federal and provincial governments are only paying lip service to it. Altaf Shakoor said every sector in Sindh province including education, health, policing, public transport, employment, industry and housing is on nose dive.
This revenue generation engine of Pakistan is not getting funds even to maintain its civic infrastructure, anti-country elements are hatching conspiracies to sabotage the hard earn peace in Sindh for which our brave police and security agencies have laid great sacrifices. Corruption is yet to be checked and the Wadera elite class is continually suppressing the rights of poor people.
He said the society is still without justice and equity. In these circumstances, return of ethnic and political violence to this province would be a bad omen.
He said till the governments at federal and provincial levels play their due role in resolving the problems of people of Sindh living in cities and villages the situation could not be easily improved. He said the condition of rural areas of the province is also going from bad to worse.
Sindh cannot afford return of ethnic violence and all stakeholders including the provincial government must take a serious notice of the recent rise in crime rate, said Altaf Shakoor.
He said the cold-blooded murder of three laborers belonging to Bajur at Naudero is a big tragedy for the federal and provincial governments. He said Sindh has already been reeling from the murder of Irshad Ranjhani in Karachi due to the inhuman and apathetic attitude of police.
He regretted that certain political parties are also trying to cash the newly created unrest in the province. He said the police and administration failed to control law and order. He said the hard earned peace in Sindh including Karachi is being wasted due to inefficiency of the sitting government, which is not concerned about the basic problems of people.
Altaf Shakoor said the PDP is very much concerned about rearing of the ugly head of political and ethnic crime in the province. He demanded foolproof steps to check the ethnic and political violence in Sindh including Karachi at all costs. He said the Sindh police not only need modern equipment and facilities but also a proper training to work with dignity and fully respect the basic rights of citizens. He asked the government for doling out justice to the bereaved families of the slain workers, giving them compensation and ensuring early arrest of the killers.
