Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has directed the officers concerned to keep at least one month oil stock instead of one week due to prevailing tension between Pakistan and India. The minister was addressing a press conference on Saturday at Railways Headquarters. Pakistan Railways will start VIP train from Karachi Cantt to Lahore Cantt and passengers will have to pay only Rs 7,000 with complementary food having travelling time of 14 hours.
Rashid said the control and command system will be installed at the Railways Headquarter, besides a main tracking system and call center. The minister said that railways land situated all over the country has been computerized. Land on lease or rent can be observed with a single click on the computer. With the help of mobile apps, railways officers will be able to check, weather or not the land is on lease or rent and that the occupant of such land is paying the rent besides knowing about the illegal occupants, he added.
The minister said that two new trains will be operated in the coming month, one from Peshawar, Noshehra, Mardan Dargahi and the second one will be started from Banu to Khohat and Tull. In response to a question, the minister said that Pakistan Railways earned 2.4 billion rupees extra from the newly operated train in the last four months. "We have fixed 10 billion targets in the coming days and we will achieve this target easily."
He claimed that he is a member of the Public Accounts Committee and a notification in this regard has been issued by the prime minister secretariat. "He can join PAC any time he wants". Speaking about a likely protest movement by the Pakistan People's Party, he said Asif Ali Zardari's 'fuse has blown away'. "He has lost his password," he said. About Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani's arrest, Rashid said nothing has changed and things will unaffected after his arrest.
About the health of former PM, he said Nawaz Sharif started suffering from an illness as soon as he was ousted from power. "If Nawaz Sharif needs open air atmosphere as suggested by the medical board, his Lal Haveli's rooftop is available for him," Rashid said. He sarcastically remarked that these people suffer from such ailments which have no cure in Pakistan and can only be cured in the United Kingdom. "Zardari wants proceedings of a case against him to be held in Karachi while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz wants the proceedings of cases against their leaders to be conducted in Lahore. There must be some reason behind this," he said. In the background of tensions between Pakistan and India following the Pulwama attack, he said Modi was trying to fight a war after losing elections in four states.
