The provincial cabinet here on Tuesday approved Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Monitoring Authority bill 2019 to give status to the Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU) of provincial department of Elementary and Secondary Education (E&S) as a regular authority.
According to details, the proposed bill was presented in the provincial cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan here at cabinet room, which attended members of his cabinet. The proposed bill will soon be tabled in provincial assembly for its formal assent.
It is pertinent to mention here that the IMU of department of elementary and secondary education government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was established as a pilot project in 2014, which had given task to monitor attendance of teachers and collection of data regarding facilities in government run schools in the province. So, after the formal approval by KP Assembly, the IMU will become an autonomous and independent authority.
The education advisor informed the cabinet that the IMU has delivered in an ensuring attendance of the teachers in the government schools. Keeping in view its performance during last five years, the government has decided to make it a full fledge authority. The advisor said the bill would soon be introduced in the KP Assembly.
The meeting directed the presentation of summary in next cabinet meeting regarding appointment of Managing Director, Tanzeem Lissaail-e-Wal Mahroom Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting also gave approval of establishment of police station in 25 sub-divisions of the newly merged tribal districts.
The chief minister while speaking on the occasion said that people with good reputation should be included in boards of provincial government institutions.
He said the government believed in transparency and merit, which are essential for best service delivery to masses. He said that all provincial institutions boards will be re-organised by taking approval from the provincial assembly.
