Armed motorcyclists shot dead an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of police in Orangi Town, here on Monday. Two gunmen riding a motorbike opened multiple fires at Rizwan, son of Abdul Karim Mughal, an ASI of police, near Subhani Masjid in Orangi Town No-03. They fled the scene leaving him in a pool of blood.
Rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the critically wounded police official to a nearby private hospital where the ASI breathed his last. Rizwan was on way to duty at Iqbal Market police station when he was targeted.
Police said they have recovered two empties of 9mm bullets from the scene.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Dr Kaleem Imam has directed the District West SSP to submit a detailed investigation report on the attack as soon as possible.
Later, funeral prayer was offered at Garden headquarters (South), and the slain cop was laid to rest in the Baldia Town No-7 graveyard amid tears and anguish.
It is relevant to add that police constable Jahangir, 28, son of Saleem, was gunned down by armed motorcyclists in Hijrat Colony on March.
