Regular courts have started functioning in all the tribal districts on Monday. Registrar Peshawar High Court Khawaja Wajih Uddin said that 28 judicial officers and 18 prosecutors have been posted in the tribal districts. The registrar said special training is being provided to judicial officers to make them conversant with the peculiar customs and "riwaj" of tribal districts.
To set up makeshifts courts and start hearing of cases, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) has posted Judicial Officers to the newly merged Districts of Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Orakzai, Kurram, North Waziristan and South Waziristan.
The notifications stating that the makeshift arrangements have been made the period of six months for which sizable promotions are made by the high court. In the first phase, said the notification, for each tribal District, there will be one district & sessions judge, two additional district & sessions judges and one senior civil judge. While in due course civil judges cum judicial magistrates will be appointed.
Earlier, in this regard, the PHC had conducted an orientation session for judges posted to newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the high court last week. Chief Justice PHC, Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth during the orientation session said that the selection of judicial officers for tribal districts has been carried out painstakingly. He added that extra caution has been taken to ensure the best of the best are selected for the mammoth task of dispensation of justice to tribal people.
He directed judges to proceed according to the law without any pressure and prejudice in administrating justice. Justice Seth referred to the preparation carried out by the Registrar Khawaja Wajih Uddin and the secretariat of district judiciary highlighted that all efforts have been carried out to facilitate the judicial officer posted in the tribal districts.
