With a view to make the organs' transplantation process easy and possible, the Punjab government is making necessary amendments in the Organ's Transplantation law. This was revealed during a meeting of the Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority (PHOTA) chaired by the Punjab chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, here on Thursday. It was decided in the meeting to establish regional offices of PHOTA.
The Punjab CM made it clear that illegal trade of organs' transplantation will not be tolerated and legal action will be initiated against the criminals. He further said that the organs' transplantation should be totally safe. The Punjab health minister, Dr Yasmeen Rashid said that necessary amendments are being made in the law, to make the organs' transplantation process easy and possible.
Health Advisor Muhammad Hanif Pitafi announced to donate his body organs after death as human lives can be saved through it. PHOTA head Dr Faisal Masood, spokesman for CM, Secretary Specialized Health & Medical Education and others attended the meeting.
Moreover, the CM, while chairing the meeting of the cabinet standing committee on finance and development, accorded approval to grant financial aid to the legal heirs in case of death of contract employees during service. A sum of Rs 1.6 million will be given to the heirs of deceased contract employees of BS-1 to BS-4 while Rs 1.9 million will be provided to the heirs of contract employees of BS-5 to BS-10. Similarly, Rs 2.2 million for contract employees of BS-11 to BS-15, Rs 2.5 million for the heirs of contract employees of BS-16 and BS-17 and Rs 3.4 million will be given to the heirs of contract employees of BS-18 and BS-19. Financial aid worth Rs.4 million will be provided to the heirs in case of death of contract employees of BS-20 and above.
The Chief Minister rejected the proposal of increasing the fare of metro bus service. "We do not want to put any burden on the people as providing relief to the citizens is our responsibility," he said, adding: "The Punjab Mass Transit Authority should look for other feasible options to enhance their resources instead of increasing the fare."
The meeting also accorded approval to complete the process for the recruitment of new MD of the Punjab Mass Transit Authority. Permission was also granted to make recruitment in digital media wing of DGPR Punjab, dengue control programme and special monitoring unit.
