General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major-General Khalid Saeed the 21st Artillery Division who visited Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology on Sunday lauded the Institute's academic staff for striving to impart contemporary education in Engineering and Management Sciences to the youth according to the requirements of the country, says a press release issued on Sunday.
Major-General Khalid led the delegation who met with Jehangir Bashar (Rector of GIK Institute), Prof Dr Jameel-Un Nabi (Pro-Rector, Academics), Sardar Aminullah Khan (Pro-Rector, Administration and Finance), Faculty Deans, the Dean of Student Affairs, Heads of Departments as well as students.
A detailed briefing was given to the delegation about the different disciplines of Engineering and Management Sciences taught at the Institute. The delegation was informed about the number of undergraduate, graduate and PhD students and the various facilities and modern laboratories to which they have access. GIK's interaction with world class universities, linkages with different industries and concentration on result-oriented research were mentioned in particular.
Information about GIK's International Advisory Board, admissions process, important research projects, curricular and co-curricular activities on campus and student societies were also shared with the delegation. The delegation exchanged views with the Rector and took interest in the details of the existing programs taught at the Institute and future plans to introduce more disciplines. The guests also appreciated knowing that there is a great demand for professionals produced by the GIK Institute by multinational companies across the world.
The GOC had a very fruitful discussion with the students. The delegation was given a tour of various facilities around campus and was told about the up-gradation process of laboratories. It was noted that the Institute focuses on providing world-class education to meet the techno-industrial requirements of the country and national and multinational companies.
