Peshawar Zalmi has topped points tally after convincing victory over Karachi Kings by 61 runs in HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) fourth match of last eight matches round, played at National Stadium, here on Monday. While Multan Sultans chased down the 141 runs target with 45 balls to spare and seven wickets in hand during encounter against Lahore Qalandars in the third match played day earlier.
Fast bowler Mohammad Abbas took three wickets to guide Multan Sultans to a convincing seven-wicket win over Lahore Qalandars. Abbas finished with 3-22 keeping Lahore down to 140-8 in their 20 overs before opener Shan Masood struck 25-ball 48 with eight boundaries and a six to steer Multan to the target in just 12.3 overs.
The win allowed Zalmi to top the table with 14 points, and they would face Quetta Gladiators in the first play-off on March 13. Whereas, Islamabad United would play against Karachi Kings in the second play-off on March 14. Peshawar Zalmi posted 203 runs at the loss of seven wickets in their 20-overs. In reply the Kings got all out on 142 runs in 16.2 overs.
In first match Shan Masood was the top scorer for Multan Sultans with a handy knock of 48 off 25 deliveries. Qalandars skipper Fakhar Zaman got the first breakthrough for his side with a brilliant fielding display after he got Umer Siddiq run out on 13. Vince departs for 25, after he was caught by Fakhar Zaman off Shaheen Shah's delivery. David Weise got the wicket of Shan Masood who got out on 48 off 24 deliveries, after he was caught by substitute Umair Masood. The win gave Multan fifth position in the points table with six points in ten matches while Lahore finished fifth. Lahore managed just six points in 10 matches and had an inferior net run-rate than Multan.
