The government is contemplating on three names to pick one of them as next Secretary Finance following the retirement of Secretary Finance, Arif Ahmed Khan on March 22. Sources said that a committee constituted on the matter deliberated on three names in the first meeting, however, another meeting is also expected and list of names may be extended.
Sources told that the committee has deliberated on different names including Chairman FBR, Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan, Secretary Commerce, Younus Dhaga, former Chief Secretary KPK, Naveed Kamran Baloch for the new Finance Secretary, all three names belong to Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS).
Three out of five members committee, Establishment Division, Ejaz Munir, Secretary to Prime Minister, Azam Khan and Advisor to PM on Establishment, Arbab Shahzad, are also from PAS.
The other two members of the committee are Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mehmood and Finance Minister, Asad Umer.
