Incarcerated leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khawaja Saad Rafique on Wednesday said that the country's Parliament is not fully independent because the political parties were not created in the right way. Rafique, who is currently in custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Paragon Housing Society scam, made the statement during a meeting of the Standing Committee of Law and Justice.
He proposed an in-camera session to discuss the perimeters of the law minister's powers. "Pakistan's Parliament is not fully independent...one of the main reasons behind it is the attitude of the political leadership," he added. The committee pointed out that the delegated legislation under the Hindu Marriage Act, 2017 is still awaited despite a deadline was given in the Act. It sought a detailed report on the given subject from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
