Top seeded and Pakistan No. 3 Rushna Mehboob moved to the second round after registering victories against their respective rivals in the ongoing National Bank of Khyber Women Squash Championship being played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Thursday. Head Coach of the Blue Tone Squash Academy Wazir Gul, Executive Member Sher Bahadar Khan graced the occasion as guests and witnessed the matches.
In the first match of the first round, top seeded Rushna Mehmood of ZTBL recorded a one sided victory against Maira Khan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in straight sets, the score was 11-7, 11-1 and 11-5. Rushna Mehmood did not face any hardship in toppling here upcoming young rival in 19-minutes and marched into the second round. In the other matches Anum Aziz of Sindh recorded victory against Nimra Aqeel in straight sets, the score was 11-9, 11-9 and 11-2. Anum Aziz of Sindh fully dominated the match proceedings and did not give much time to her rival Nimra Aqeel of KP to strike back.
In the third match of the first round Shafaq Choudary of Punjab got a walk over against Noor Ul Huda of SNGPL who did not make it to the match. In the other match Amna Fayyaz of Sindh defeated Sana Sher Bahadar of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by 3-0, the score was 11-4, 11-9 and 11-6. Amna Fayyaz played a quick game right from the outset of the match and did not give much room to Sana to strike back, however, Sana had good attacking game in the second set where she tied the tally twice at 5-5, and 9-9.
Komal Khan of Wapda defeated Kalsoom of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a one-sided affair, the score was 11-7, 11-1 and 11-1. Kalsoom failed to click and thus Komal, a currently Under-19 No. 1, marched into victory.
Aimen Shabaz of (SNGPL) defeated 3-0 Kainat Khan (SNGPL) by 11-7, 11-4 and 11-2, Noor Ul Ain Ejaz of SNGPL defeated Sibga Arshad of Punjab by 3-1 in a thrilling match. The score was 11-4, 5-11, 11-2 and 11-9 and second seeded Saima Shoukat of Wapda defeated Hira Aqeel of KP by 3-0, the score was 11-4, 11-7 and 11-5.
