'Relief and mobilisation'

This is apropos a Business Recorder editorial "Relief and mobilization" carried by the newspaper yesterday. According to it, "Chairman Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has embarked on his train march from Karachi to Larkana as preparation for the upcoming April 4 death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto... . Although the train march, dubbed 'Caravan-i-Bhutto', evokes memories of the memorable train marches of the past, especially those mounted by Bilawal's grandfather, they can only justify such a comparison if the wider public, not just PPP jiyalas (committed workers), join in."
The question, however, is: what choice does Bilawal have except mass mobilization. In other words, PPP does have a 'Sindh card' mainly because of its uninterrupted rule in Sindh since the 2008 general elections. Its long stint has enabled it to render certain Sindhi nationalist parties and groups irrelevant insofar as the question of 'Sindh nationalism' is concerned. Nobody can stop Bilawal from playing the victim card although the victim mindset leads him powerless in confronting political circumstances or challenges.
