Prime Minister Imran Khan has again urged the Afghan government led by Ashraf Ghani to install an interim government to conduct elections and ensure transparency in the process. "Not having an interim government could lead to chaos," the premier said while addressing a public gathering in Sports complex in Jamrud, in Khyber tribal district on Friday.
He said his earlier statement had drawn much criticism but it was important that Afghanistan should learn from Pakistan's experience. "We in Pakistan have held elections without interim governments and saw that the results were immediately challenged by the opposition. Not having an interim setup will only make the election process controversial," said Imran.
Peace in Afghanistan will be beneficial for all including the tribal people, he said. He announced that the Torkham border shall remain open in order to facilitate trade. Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, Governor Khyber Pakthunkhwa Shah Farman, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri, PM Special Assistant for Media Iftikhar Durrani, PM adviser on establishment Arbab Shahzad, lawmakers, senators and PTI leadership were present.
PM Imran Khan said giving advice to Afghan brothers is no interference in their internal affairs, saying that, "we consider Afghans as our brothers and want peace in Afghanistan". He said he had given suggestion of interim government in Afghanistan before elections.
He said that there would be no peace, if fair elections were not held in Afghanistan. He said that giving advice is not interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan. "It's up to you to accept or reject the advice," he said. He said that peace in Afghanistan is in the interests of all.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said Government will provide Sehat Insaf Cards to people of tribal districts to provide free treatment facilities to them at any top hospitals of the country.
The CM said the KP government has decided to extend this inclusive program to all tribal districts where family of each beneficiary will avail free treatment of up to Rs720000 annually. More than one million families in tribal districts would benefit from Sehat Insaf Cards.
The Chief Minister said Levy and Khasadar force have rendered great sacrifices in war against terror and their sacrifice will not go waste. He said all issues of Khasadar and Levy force have been addressed.
Mahmood Khan said PTI Govt is going to launch special employment program for youth, saying Insaf Rozgar (employment) program will provide dignified jobs to youth irrespective of political affiliations. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan has always raised voice for people of tribal districts and will protect their rights.
The Chief Minister said all hospitals, basic health units and rural health centres in Khyber district will be equipped with equipments and transformers by June. He said all basic facilities in terms of education and health sectors would be provided to people of Khyber district at their doorsteps.
