Central Information Secretary of opposition party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Marriyum Aurangzeb Saturday accused National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of conducting raid at the residence of Hamza Shehbaz on the orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Talking to media persons after Lahore High Court (LHC) stopped the top anti-graft body from arresting Shehbaz, she said that it is no law rather it is state terrorism to arrest people. "Imran Khan is using NAB for state terrorism. First, they used to stand atop containers and do terrorism and now they are standing on opposition's heads and scaring them," she asserted.
She said that NAB had conducted an illegal raid on the directions of the Prime Minister, adding despite a discussion a day ago, the NAB's team, after conspiring with the government, returned on Saturday.
Aurangzeb claimed that the NAB had gone to courtroom number five on Saturday and submitted an application for Shehbaz's arrest. However, this application was rejected by a NAB court, she further claimed that the Bureau was informed that an LHC order exists in this regard.
She claimed that Shahzad Akbar, the Prime Minister's Assistant, remained in contact with the director general of NAB's Lahore chapter and "passed on" the Premier's instructions to the anti-graft watchdog. She demanded that a "forensic test" of Akbar's phone should be conducted.
Questioning where from "Hamza's arrest orders have suddenly appeared," she said, "While addressing a rally on Friday Imran Khan said he will put everyone in jail. This is just a ploy to distract people from the government's incompetence."
She said that the PML-N will fight this political war as it is nothing but political victimisation of opponents. "If NAB was independent then Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry and Shahbaz Gill would not have been its spokespersons." She rejected claims that Hamza's guards resorted to violence during Friday's raid.
