A group of Jammu Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International (JKSDMI) headed by its Chairman Raja Najabat Hussain along with former member of Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Amna Ansari called on Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Syed Fakhar Imam, here at the Parliament House on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Raja Najabat informed the chairman about the activities of their organisation in Pakistan and abroad. He also congratulated the chairman on assuming the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir.
While talking to the delegates on the latest development in Indian-held Kashmir and the decision of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in their manifesto for the coming election regarding scrapping of the Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that gives a special status to Jammu and Kashmir, Fakhar Imam said Indian leadership should understand the reality and international obligations in the light of the United Nations Security Council's resolutions on Kashmir being a disputed territory.
He further said "one cannot hide the truth by using sheer force and negative propaganda in this modern globalised world. Now the world has fully understood the negative tactics of the Indian government to prolong the Kashmir dispute in order to change its demography. Moreover, the Indian propaganda to paint the Kashmiris struggling for their right of self-determination as terrorists has also come to an end. The world's electronic and social media are rightly showing the images of brutalities and atrocities being committed by the Indian armed forces against the innocent Kashmiris particularly the youth who are carrying out their indigenous struggle without any fear of death."
Moreover, he said BJP leaders were playing with fire which could destroy the peace of Indian-held Kashmir and could also disrupt the peace of the region, if appropriate steps were not taken to avoid creating a war like atmosphere continuously. That created a situation of great uncertainty for nuclear armed neighbours, he added.
The chairman appealed to the Indian nation and world at large to understand the gravity of the Kashmir dispute and create an environment where the two countries can sit together for a meaningful dialogue in order to solve the core issue of Kashmir without further delay keeping in view the betterment of their future generations.
