The Punjab Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution presented by Hafiz Ammar Yasir to condemn blasphemous remarks on social media. The House also condemned the use of blasphemous language purportedly found in the syllabus of O level. Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervez Elahi directed to constitute a committee under the chair of Law Minister Raja Basharat in which education minister as well as representatives of opposition should be included.
The House also passed a unanimous resolution presented by Tariq Maseeh Gill condemning the sad incident on Easter in Siri Lanka in which many innocent people lost their lives. Earlier, Punjab Minister for Food Samiullah Chaudhry said that the government is conducting a forensic audit on the subsidy of Rs 206 billion given by former PML (N) government on wheat in 10 years.
He said this on the floor of House while responding to the question regarding subsidy given on 'Mechanical Tandoors'. He also said that subsidy of Rs 9 billion on wheat was given last year in Ramazan. Pervez Elahi gave directions to Punjab Minister for Industries, Commerce and Investment Mian Aslam Iqbal to conduct special inquiry on irregularities in Sasti Roti Scheme and Mechanical Tandoors.
Mian Aslam Iqbal while speaking on the floor of House said that the former PML (N) government had given quota of wheat and Mechanical Tandoors to its workers in order to oblige them. He also said that an inquiry against irregularities in Sasti Roti Scheme was stopped on the orders of the then chief minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. He assured the House that impartial inquiry will be conducted as directed by the Speaker Punjab Assembly.
Law Minister Raja Basharat laid The Punjab Medical Teaching Institution Reforms Bill 2019 in the House. He also laid reports on Special Study Report on Management of Medicine With Reference To Storage and Issuance in Hospitals For The Audit Year 2015-16, Special Study Report on Functioning of Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Lahore, Home Department, Government of the Punjab for the Audit Year 2015-16, Special Study Report on Procurement of Wheat Food Department, Government of the Punjab for the Audit Year 2015-16, Special Study Report on Special Drawing Accounts (SDA) Government of the Punjab for the Audit Year 2015-16, Special Study Report on Debt Management by Finance Department, Government of the Punjab for the Audit year 2015-16, Special Audit Report on Advancement of Information Technology Amongst Students through provision of Laptop Computers, Higher Education Department, Government of the Punjab for the Audit year 2015-16 and Performance Audit Report on the Project "Water Resources Development (Through Construction of 200 Mini Dams-Revised 400 Mini Dams alongwith command area Development) of Potohar Region Barani Areas of Punjab", Government of the Punjab, P&D Department for the Audit year 2015-16.
