Heat wave continued to simmer the city on Wednesday with temperature touching 42 degrees Celsius, according to the Met Office. The heat wave spell at a speed between 10 to 15 nautical miles is expected to continue until Saturday, May 4 with temperature ranging between 40 degrees Celsius and 42 degrees Celsius. The Met Office advised the concerned authorities to remain vigilant for any untoward calamity.
Temperature in other parts of Sindh and Balochistan also shot up to 44 degrees Celsius, each, in Mithi and Mirpurkhas; 43, each, in Shaheed Benazirabad, Jacobabad, Padidan and Chhor; 42, each in Lasbella, Badin, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Thatta and Sakrand. "Dry continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. A shallow westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country and may persist for next two days," the Met said.
In the next 24 hours mainly hot and dry weather is expected in the most parts of the country, while very hot in south Punjab and Sindh. An isolated, dust-thunderstorm/rain is expected in Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Sargodha Divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
