A 12-year-old boy and a woman were martyred while another woman was injured in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as Indian troops resorted to unprovoked shelling from across the restive Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday, said Inter-Services Public Relations. According to a statement issued by the military's media wing, Indian troops deliberately targeted civilian population in Tatta Pani and Kot Katira sectors of Azad Kashmir and resultantly a 12-year-old boy, Muhammad Zahid and Nasreen bibi 45, were martyred while another woman Sonia Bibi was critically injured.
Pakistan Armed forces gave a befitting response targeting the Indian check posts. "Pakistan Army troops responded effectively and targeted those posts which initiated fire," read the statement. Rescue officials shifted the bodies and the injured to the hospital.
Tensions have been mounting high ever since the Pulwama attack and unprovoked cross border firing across LoC from the Indian side continues. Meanwhile, the Indian media reported that after a lull of several days, the armies of India and Pakistan on Sunday exchanged heavy gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Reports said the firing started in Mankote and Krishna Ghati areas of Mendhar division in Poonch district at 10am. They said both the armies were using small arms and mortars to target each other. In Keri and Lam top areas of Rajouri district, cross LoC firing and shelling started at about 11am and was going on when last reports poured in. There was no immediate report of any loss of life or injuries. Earlier, Indian forces on March 11 had resorted to unprovoked fire along the Line of Control (LoC), martyring two Pakistani civilians including a woman.
