MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) High Court Friday, issuing contempt of court notices to all cellular companies, bared them from receiving all taxes from cell phone users including withholding tax, sales tax and service charges.

Chief Justice High Court Justice M Tabbasam Aftab Alvi issued notices to the executives of cellular companies on a contempt of court petition filed by Sajid Hussain Abbasi Advocate on the violation of court's earlier order dated 19/12 / 2018.

The high court on a writ petition titled Shaikh Adil Masood versus Telenor Pakistan had barred the cellular companies from receiving withholding tax, sales tax and service charges from cell phone users till further orders but the companies continued to get taxes collection in violation of the order.

The petitioner argued that cellular companies had been avoiding implementations of the court order which, he said, was a clear contempt of court and sought contempt of court proceedings against them.
