Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh for Information, Law and Anticorruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that before the election Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced that he would not go to IMF rather prefer to commit suicide but after coming into power an employee of IMF has been appointed as governor of the State Bank adding that Imran Khan had taken that step to save himself from committing suicide.
While talking to media persons at Sindh Assembly on Monday, he said it was very unfortunate to say that what kind of Medina state had been set up where people were facing hardships in Holy month of Ramadan. He said that time had arrived and Imran Khan should accept that his government had no plan to resolve the difficulties of people of Pakistan.
He said revenue collection short fall of FBR had reached to alarming level of Rs 480 billion adding that nothing would be achieved by removal of FBR chief instead correction in the policies were needed. He remarked that shortfall in federal revenue collection was creating direct impact on the provinces and added they (Sindh) were facing hardships in running it's health , education and other sector programmes.
He said Sindh government had achieved six percent growth in revenue collection in current financial year and had collected Rs 126 billion while performance of federal government and Punjab was remained very poor and zero percent increase in revenue collection had been recorded.
He said shortfall of federal transfers to Sindh soared to Rs 130 billion and demanded federal advisor for finance Hafeez Shaikh to take notice of shortfalls. He said the chief minister Sindh had made few requests to federal government in a meeting chaired by Federal Advisor Finance Hafeez Shaikh held last weekend and requested him to delegate powers of collecting sales tax on goods to provinces.
He said PTI had taken u-turn on its every claim in last nine months. He said petroleum products prices had been increased before the start of holy month of Ramadan and added that bomb of Inflation Tsunami had been dropped on the people as prices of every commodity would increase with the increase in petroleum products.
Replying to questions about protest of nurses, the advisor said nurses had been informed to resolve their genuine problems through talks adding that sit-ins and protests were not solution to their issues.
To another question, the provincial advisor admitted that police conduct was remained questionable in few incidents. He added that police was accountable to civil society, provincial government as well opposition benches. He said new law had been introduced in Sindh Assembly which ensured the authority to police as well make them accountable. To a question, Barrister Murtaza Wahab has accepted the challenge of mayor Karachi and invited him to sit at any forum or TV channel for debate on the performance of KMC.-PR
