National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has taken serious notice of a public fatal accident in the service territory of Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) which occurred on May 12, 2019 and has directed the company to provide a detailed report in this regard immediately. According to media reports, a family including a couple and their two children were killed after a high voltage electricity wire fell upon them while riding a bull-cart on May 12, 2019.
The Authority has shown concern on poor maintenance of network and safety measures being taken by Mepco, especially with respect to fragile 11kV feeders and directed Mepco to submit a detailed report of accident in the manner prescribed under the performance standards along with causes and reasons of such accidents immediately by return fax within three days.
