Additional Secretary Agriculture (Task Force) Rana Ali Arshad has directed the officers of the provincial agriculture department to carry out regular field visits to ensure on the spot solution to the problems being faced by the cotton growers. He said that the provincial government was extending subsidy of billions of rupees to bring down the input cost of farmers. DAP is being given Rs 500 per bag and potassium based fertilizers are being given Rs 800 per bag subsidy. Besides, the government is also extending Rs 1000 per bag subsidy on purchase of certified cotton seeds.
Rana Arshad Ali urged the growers to take advantage of this subsidy so as to bring down the input cost and enhance their profit. Rana Arshad issued these directions during his visit to cotton growing areas of the Faisalabad Division on Friday. He was accompanied by the high ranking officers of the department. The Additional Secretary said that the government was observing zero tolerance policy against those involved in heinous business of selling fake pesticides.
