OGDC MD tells PAC body: There was only 12 percent chance of discovering oil/gas reservoirs in Kakera block

A subcommittee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was informed on Thursday that there was only 12 percent chance of discovering oil/gas reservoirs in Kakera block.
Managing Director (MD) Oil and Gas Development Company, Zahid Mir while briefing a subcommittee of the PAC held here under the chairmanship of Ayaz Sadiq said that four oil/gas exploration and production companies were involved in operating Kakera block. He said that oil/gas exploration and production companies never created hype over the potential discovery of oil/gas reservoirs as the companies were operating the filed as per seismic data results.
Responding to member committee Hina Rabbani Khar who asked the MD OGDCL why the government urged people to offer special prayers for the expected huge oil/gas reservoirs from the block, Zahid Mir said that the senior officials of the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum Division, knew about all the developments.
Responding to Mushahid Hussian Sayed, the MD OGDCL said that the exploration and development companies don't make any announcement until there is final outcome of a block.
