The Karachi Port handled 156,059 tonnes of cargo comprising 109,002 tonnes of import cargo and 47,057 tonnes of export cargo including 7,998 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 109,002 tonnes comprised of 67,162 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,105 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,330 tonnes of canola and 26,405 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 47,057 tonnes comprised of 26,907 tonnes of containerised cargo; 400 tonnes of bulk cargo; 16,550 tonnes ofclinkers and 3,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,998 containers comprising of 4,347 containers import and 3,651 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,665 of 20's and 1,317 of 40's loaded while 30 of 20's and 09 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 642 of 20's and 484 of 40's loaded containers while 665 of 20's and 688 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Hyundai New York, Irenes Reliance, Al Safa, Oriental Rose, Apanemo and PVT Aroma carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas and general cargo sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. CMA CGM Medea, KSL Hua Yang, Maria Bottigliri and Al Mahboobah carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 181,699 tonnes comprising 136,126 tonnes of import cargo and 45,543 tonnes of export cargo including 3,465 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 136,126 tonnes includes 2,991 tonnes of diesel oil; 13,700 tonnes of palm oil; 25,000 tonnes of LNG; 44,507 tonnes of coal; 7,350 tonnes of soyabean; 15,959 tonnes of mogas; 2,907 tonnes of palm kernel and 23,712 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 45,543 tonnes includes 45,543 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,465 containers comprising of 1,248 containers import and 2,397 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were three ships namely Maersk Detroit, MOL Globe and CSAV Tyndall carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely Analipsi Lady carrying diesel oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eleven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola seeds, LNG, palm kernel, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven vessels viz. Teno, Sofia-1, Helvetta One, La Venture, Basch Hoek, Aeriko, Texas, Yuan Ping Sea, Al-Salam-II, Bunga Akasia and NCC Najem respectively carrying containers, soyabean, coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. Teno, Maersk Brooklyn, Sofia-1 and Yuan Ping Sea carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Thursday. There was one ship namely Maersk Brooklyn carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely CMA CGM Medea carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
