A Over 14,000 patients were treated in Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar during three days of Eid-ul-Fitr, suffering from overeating, road accidents, gynae, surgical, heart, and gastroenteritis patients. The data shared by administration of the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar on Saturday stated that from Monday night to Saturday Morning, LRH emergency department for adults received 14000 patients of which 70 percent patients were suffering from gastroenteritis.
LRH also provided treatment to a good number of around 38,000 patients who were given first medical aid with different blood tests, X-rays, ultrasounds and CT scans. Around received 542 patients of road accidents, many patients of road accidents were brought in Lady Reading Hospital, which were reported unconsciousness with multiple injuries that were given the medical assistance. Spokesperson Asim Khan said that LRH Director Dr Khalid Masood has arranged additional quantity of medicines in emergency departments of the hospitals along with deploying additional staff on Eid holidays that served the purpose of accommodating patients properly.
He added that only at emergency operation theatre 100 major and 40 minor operations were performed at LRH from 'Chand raat' to the fifth day of Eid. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Emergency Services (rescue 1122) responded to a number of emergencies and rescued a large number of emergency victims in all 35 districts of KP during Eid holidays.
According to rescue department Spokesperson, Bilal Ahmad Faizi, that emergency plans for Eid were conducted and during the work different key points were established across the province.
He said that only in Peshawar emergency ambulances responded to 70 emergencies of road traffic crashes wherein four people died on the spot while at least 120 were injured. He further said that road traffic incidents are significantly increasing on this Eid, in which in most of the cases safety measures like wearing helmets and overspending were not followed.
