Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Wednesday said that the budget for the financial year 2019-20 will sail through the Parliament smoothly. Addressing the media persons, she said that those making empty threats cannot do anything about the budget. However, she also offered opposition to present amendments for the benefit of the people.
Dr Firdous said that the government would consider opposition's suggestions if it presents them in a democratic way and not by intimidating the government. She said that a negative propaganda against Prime Minister Imran Khan is being run as he wants supremacy of law. She said that opposition cannot hinder the Prime Minister from doing right things. She also rejected the propaganda of opposition, saying he was chosen by public over the rulers of the past. She said that only speaker can issue production orders.
Dr Firdous said this is the best budget and the nation would witness that these people would not be able to do any harm to budget. She said the PTI government has announced 8th interim wage board award to address media persons' difficulties.
She said 325 percent increase equal to Rs 8,500 has been proposed for special grade, 306 percent equal to Rs 6500 for Grade 1-4, and 355 percent equal to Rs 5,000 rupees for grade 5-8.
Awan said it is a step forward for permanent award. She said the interim award is being announced after having consensus of all the stakeholders. The special assistant said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is committed to providing workers their due right. He said the government has fixed minimum wage at Rs 17,500, which shows the Prime Minister's determination in this regard.
