Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq on Sunday said his party will not become part of the politics of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) in their ongoing anti-government campaign. Addressing his party's protest 'Karachi Awami March' that began from Sohrab Goth and culminated near the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's mausoleum, Siraj said JI would separately continue its protest as the 'third option' for the rights of the people.
Also, the JI Chief urged the people to vote and support his party for brining the Islamic system of governance in the country with a vision to steer the country out of all crises. Referring to the current hue and cry against National Accountability Bureau (NAB) actions, and arrests of political leaders, Siraj said: "We have no personal conflicts with NAB or any other government officials. We are here to register protest against the hike in prices of commodities; gas and electricity in the recent anti-people budget," Siraj said.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan unlike his promises to speak truth with the nation, was continue to telling lies since he had assumed office of the premiership. His party has completely failed fulfill even a single promise. He said the PM took a 100-day from the nation for the service delivery right after assuming the power. Later, he requested for six months, and now the PM and his team say it's their first tenure, asking people to wait for the next their term.
Imran Khan had promised to provide 5 million low cast homes to the poor and low income class; however, he could not distribute even 5 million makeshift tents till yet. PTI-led federal government is on ventilator, and inefficient to deal with the complex issues being faced by the country. On the other hand, inflation, hike in prices of commodities, power and gas, and imposition of heavy taxes on the poor have made their lives miserable.
The existing issues are because of incompetent governments of present and past, he said. JI Chief also blamed Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) for not fighting the case of Karachi in the parliament. MQM was enjoying two ministries, one is already in the federal cabinet, while one more has been promised, that's enough, they will not speak for Karachi.
The years-long K-1V project is yet to be resolved whereas Karachiites were dying for the drinking water in this sizzling weather. Green line project is incomplete. The local bodies set up has almost completed its tenure and the resource-less elected representatives are now chanting slogans - 'Karachi ko Pani do'. The JI chief made several demands from the government such as controlling 'K-Electric Mafia' and its overbilling, removal of garbage from the city, running of one thousand busses on the city roads, completion of green line project, revival of Karachi Circular Railway Project (KCR), and allocation of special funds for the reconstruction of roads on an emergency basis.
The federal government should announce 1 lac jobs for the unemployed Karachi youth as it has already promised to do so. It should also withdraw the newly imposed taxes on business community of the metropolis. The FBR discretionary powers should be curtailed and the outstanding dues of employees of the Pakistan Steel Mills be cleared, immediately, he concluded. JI senior leaders Muhammad Hussain Mehnati, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, and others also addressed the participants of the rally.
