District administration Korangi has begun lifting garbage on the directives of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. The deputy commissioner Korangi district, through a special drive, removed 79 tons of garbage. Cleanliness campaign is aimed at creating clean and green environment for healthy living of inhabitants of district Korangi.
On the very first day, the drive saw participation of maximum number of officers and officials. Even Deputy Commissioner Korangi, Additional DC, Assistant Commissioner, Mukhtiarkar were seen along with DMC Staff. At a specially-convened meeting, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah assigned the task of lifting garbage and cleaning to district administration. Under that all the deputy commissioners would personally launch and monitor lifting of garbage and ensure proper sweeping in their districts.
Korangi district's Qayyumabad, 12000 Road, Shah Faisal and Model Colony and various other points saw removal of huge heaps of garbage and filth.
Heavy machinery, including dumpers and shawls were utilised for removal of the garbage heaps. At Qayyumabad, 14 big dumpers lifted nearly 60 tons of garbage. From APP Church area at DMC School Qayyumabad, another 10 tons of garbage removed. Similarly, in Model Colony, nine tons of garbage was removed. The campaign is a joint venture of Deputy Commissioner Korangi and DMC Korangi. Around 200 to 250 workers/staffs are engaged in the cleanliness campaign.
The lifted garbage was initially transported to the Garbage Transfer Station (GTS) Char Minar near 100 Quarters area which will ultimately be transported to Deh Jaam Chakro for proper disposal by the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board. The deputy commissioner Korangi has warned all private hospitals, schools, marriage halls, commercial buildings against dumping garbage in their areas.
