The Punjab government has decided to regularize katchi abadis throughout the province, said sources. Provincial Minister for Colonies Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan presided over a meeting of the department and directed officers to submit a report in this regard within a week. He has sought positive and practical suggestions on how to bring katchi abadis in the mainstream.
He said no policy has been devised on katchi abadis since 2012 and no grant has been extended to katchi abadis over the last 10 years. He criticized the previous government for extending lip service to the issue throughout its tenure.
